Pickleball Volunteer Host
Do you love Pickleball? The Paperny Family JCC is seeking volunteer ‘court hosts’ to assist in creating the best experience for our Pickleball participants! This important role oversees our court play, mentors inexperienced players, and creates a positive and safe environment for our patrons.
Commitment
April to June (subject to change)
– Sundays 9:50am to 12:00pm
– Wednesdays 11:50am to 2:00pm

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome all players and create a positive and fun environment.
- Educate JCC visitors on Pickleball program rules and procedures.
- Check in with all participants to make sure they are booking into the assigned court.
- Assist in directing players to correct court locations for their matches.
- Remind players that they must begin play within the 10-minute period from the game being called (warm-up time must be within this time frame).
- Be available if a player dispute arises and requires assistance (including rule interpretations) as posted by the JCC.
- Set the tone for play by modelling behaviour that is in compliance with the SAPC Code of Conduct.
- Monitor any need for medical assistance and immediately notify the JCC Customer Service Desk.
- Ensure nets are set-up properly and space is clear of hazards.
- Outdoor court duties: Sweep off debris if needed, make sure all equipment is returned back to the Customer Service Desk and outdoor court is locked.
- Make sure players are wearing appropriate footwear.
- Use a timer to call players’ attention to the end of matches and the need for reassignment of courts should another group be waiting.
- Ensure players adhere to the code of conduct. Advise players of the consequences of breaches of the code of conduct and report misconduct to the Recreation Rentals Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Must be at least an Intermediate / Advanced level player,
- Ability to make everyone, at any level of play, feel valued and respected.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Complete a vulnerable sector Police Information Check.
