Childcare Waitlist Information

We are very happy that you are considering the JCC for your childcare needs. The information below will provide answers to many of your questions. Our childcare centre operates at capacity year-round and we keep an extensive waitlist as well. In order to be considered for enrollment, you will need to begin by signing-up to go on to our waitlist as soon as possible.

Given that we are a licensed facility, we follow the age and class size requirements, which means there are limits on the number of children we can accommodate in any one of our classrooms – based on age. We suggest that you also consider other childcare options, as we are not able to offer childcare services to everyone on our waitlist, and cannot offer guarantees.

Should You Choose to Join Our Waitlist

1. Please complete the online fillable waitlist form. Upon completing the form, a non-refundable waitlist fee of $20 must be paid in-person at the JCC Customer Service Desk or by phone: 403-253-8600 x0.
2. Once the form is received along with the administration fee, your child will be added to the wait list according to the date the application was received and their birth date.
3. If there are any changes to your contact information, please notify the JCC right away.
4. Please contact the JCC once a year to confirm that you would like your child to remain on our waitlist. We annually review our list and remove names of those who have not been in contact with us.
5. We are pleased to offer tours of our centre on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 9:30 and 11:00am. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. An appointment is necessary and may be arranged by calling 403-444-3175.

Openings

We undergo an internal ‘shuffle’ (unless the child is in our youngest classroom) and move eligible child(ren) to the classroom where there is the opening. We then identify which classroom has an opening, and proceed to go through our list and find any siblings of current families who fall within the age range we have an opening for. If there are no matches, we then continue the process and look at the general public list. Prospective parents will have 24 hours to respond to our initial contact attempt. If they decline or there is no reply, we will continue to call and offer a spot to the next eligible child. We will continue this process until the spot is filled.

Declining a Spot

We understand that the offer of a childcare spot may not come at a time that works for the family. The first time a spot is declined, we keep the child’s name on the waitlist in the same order. If a spot is declined a second time, then the child’s name will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist. After the third refusal, the child’s name will be removed from the waitlist.
