Job Summary
Summer Camp staff are responsible for the safety and well-being of all JCC campers within their care. Communicating with parents, working in a team environment and following the weekly schedule outlined by Camp Director and Coordinators.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate daily programs by following a weekly schedule.
- Ensure that Camp attendance forms are filled out each day.
- Account for each camper throughout the day; multiple group counts, especially during activity changes and off-site trips.
- Follow health and safety protocols.
- Ensure personal camper belongings are stored properly.
- Make sure that the camp group area is organized, sanitized and tidied each day.
- Set up and properly put away programming material.
- Participate in free-swim periods with the campers.
- Make sure children are safe and behave appropriately.
- Offer developmentally appropriate activities when a lull is in the schedule or activity ends sooner than planned.
- Making sure equipment is safe, clean and replaced if needed.
- Communicate any concerns regarding children/parents to Summer Camp Coordinator or Camp Director.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 16. Staff members who are over the age of 18 require a valid police information check with the vulnerable sectors.
- Valid first aid certification is also required.
- Our Summer Camp operates from June 30 to August 22, 2025. Staff must be available for seven (7) out of the eight (8) weeks of camp, as well as the mandatory staff training on June 26 and 27.
