Discover Betzalel Arts' summer exhibit: New Works with a diverse selection of juried member work. Stay tuned for  reception date where you can meet the artists, ask questions, and enjoy a nosh.

Bark Mitzvah 
Sunday August 19
10:00am - 3:00pm
Mark your calendar as we celebrate our 7th Annual Bark Mitzvah - A Party for Our Dogs. This event will be held on the JCC field, rain or shine. Activities every 15 minutes including: limbo, musical chairs, obstacle course, best tricks, speedy fido fetch, and Snoopy says. Speakers:

  • Craig Peers from Pet Planet Glenmore Landing on pet nutrition
  • Cindy Martin from the K9 Unit Mobile Dog Grooming on grooming

We will also have a doggy wading pool, raffle, jelly beans guessing contest, kids games, popsicles, vendors and more!

Courses

Pre-School Dance Ages 3-5
This introduction to ballet and jazz dance for nursery to kindergarten age will get your child moving and expressing themselves to music. Yael Guterman, La Pointe Dance Studio owner and teacher, will teach children rhythm, body awareness, musicality, and basic dance steps. Boys and girls will gain confidence and enjoyment.
Dress for boys: Any style tshirt with black or navy shorts, and white or black leather ballet shoes with matching ankle socks.
Dress for girls: Pink ankle socks and pink leather full sole ballet slippers with elastic. It is recommended (not mandatory) that hair be worn off the face in a bun, braids, or ponytail.

Israeli Folk Dance Ages 16+
Israeli Folk Dance taught by Israeli RAD certified dance instructor, Yael Guterman from La Pointe Dance Studio. Yael will teach you traditional Israeli folk dance steps, combinations, and modern choreographed variations. You can expect a moderate work out set to music – a fun class to move your body and soul! Dress: Comfortable clothes and non-marking shoes appropriate for exercise (please, no flip-flops or outdoor shoes).

Paint Night
Bring a friend and learn to paint. Professional artist, Sarah Bing will lead you each evening through the creation of a new painting that you can take home with you. You will learn diverse styles and types of painting including landscape, still life, and abstract. Sign up for the entire session and see your skills progress. All supplies are provided. Cash wine bar. Registration is required for all attendees by 9:00pm on the Monday before the class.

Silver Dance 55+
This is a ballet program for older adults or those with physical challenges that make other dance programs inaccessible. This program focuses on well-being based on the research of movement and music’s positive health benefits for body and mind. Yael Guterman, La Pointe Dance Studio owner and teacher, will lead you through a ballet class specially adapted for diverse needs. You will feel the benefits of elongating, moving, and aligning your body. Dress: Comfortable recreation or exercise wear and leather ballet shoes or more supportive shoes if required for medical reasons. Please be mindful of your individual needs and speak to the instructor if you have special concerns.

Digital Photography 101
This short course will teach you how to choose and use a digital camera, process your photos, and make good photos great with post-processing tricks. Experienced photographers will walk you through the steps and hands-on exercises. Camera is not needed for the first class. A digital camera is needed for classes two through four, and a laptop computer is required for classes three and four. Become a photographer or take your photos to the next level while enjoying an afternoon with friends.

Community Klezmer Band
Explore klezmer music and related musical traditions with Frank Rackow. Musicians of any instrument who are able to read and play music at an intermediate level may join this class. You will learn new music and improve your skills while meeting other talented musicians.
